Top Gear to Keep its Pole Position

The world’s favourite television motoring journalists are all set to return to our screens next year.  The eighteenth season of Top Gear will be broadcast on BBC from January 2012.  The winning combination of Clarkson, Hammond, May, and of course, The Stig, have teamed up once again.  They are currently filming the next series.

The presenters had started to make their own individual television shows, and there were fears that they would go their own way permanently.  Even with global travels across USA and Africa under their belt however, fans still believe there is plenty of road left for the three to travel together.  The popularity of the show has even resulted in it becoming an international franchise.  The on-screen magic however of the British line-up makes it a formula hard to imitate.  And obviously, the team once again will get to drive not just reasonably-priced cars, but also those from the world’s most prestigious marques.

To prove this point, the team were spotted on the job in a couple of sumptuous destinations across Italy the day the announcement was made.  The cars in question were the Noble M600, McLaren MP4-12C, and the exceptional Lamborghini Aventador, standing out amongst even these supercars.

Against an exquisite backdrop of the Piazza Venezia in Rome, the superb cars were photographed and discussed in the inimitable way that only Jeremy, Richard and James can do.  A festival of speed then ensued near Lecce, south-east of the capital.  This is the home of the Nardo race track.

Feeling quite at home in the Italian capital, the Aventador really shone.  Whilst only the broadcast of this footage in the New Year will reveal the presenters opinions of these beauties, we know that the Top Gear team has already fallen for the Lamborghini in a big way.  Ever since the launch of the car in March, the blokes have uttered nothing but praise for this latest in the famous Italian bloodline.  In June, James May was able to test drive not just one but three of the models.  The highlight was reached in July when the car was revealed on their show, as well as on their test track.   This just blew them, and their entire production team, away.  To learn more about just how much of a modern legend they believe the Aventador to be, read our Top Gear Aventador review.

You don’t have to wait until January however to hear more about the world’s most beautiful cars.  The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is coming soon to Signature Car Hire.
