Insight into the lifestyles of the rich and famous isn’t something we often get to see. The Signature Car Hire team were lucky enough to be invited into the inner circle however. A special treat in the form of a sneak preview of a customised Mercedes Benz Viano was in store for us recently.
Renowned for adding luxury to utility, the original Viano is an eight-seater pod for luxury travel. The interior therefore takes pride of place in this offering from the German leader in comfortable motoring. Ergonomic seating sculptured in soft leather with electronic controls allow for ultimate control over one’s immediate comfort. The seating itself can be reconfigured simply to any one of three layouts. This can be achieved with or without a table for entertaining or conferencing. Despite the interior roominess, the Viano’s clever air-conditioner keeps everyone cool. Entry and exit are effortless with the easy-touch button and handle being easily within a hand’s span.
Comfort is also engineered into the drive of this vehicle. Active Body Control means that should any body roll be detected by the strategically-placed sensors all low frequency vibrations, bounces or pitch are ironed out for immense stability. This superb handling is complemented by the rear wheel drive, designed into the Mercedes Benz. The five-speed automatic ECO transmission gearbox offers a smooth gear ratio for a perfect ride. Air suspension completes the picture.
This particular custom-built model was made to order for a famous footballer, although you won’t see any clues in the customisation as to who it may be. However, what you can see is the quality and space of this vehicle up close and personal.
Inside, the two-tone cream and black leather interior was detailed with red piping on the seat for some impressive visual appeal. Quilted roof panels complemented the seats for a seamless feeling of luxury. The cocoon effect was cemented with electronically-controlled chairs with extendable leg rests. The fridge behind the rear seats was within easy reach to enjoy chilled champagne whilst watching films or playing games on either of the two television screens.
A concealed double workstation desk is immediately available when work is necessary. If reclining instead, privacy windows and mood lighting could be controlled with fingertip controls. For communication with the chauffeur, the partition opens and closes with electronic controls as well.
Overall, the Signature Car Hire team was impressed with the level of craftsmanship seen. It is gratifying to see that there are other professionals out there who take quality and service as seriously as we do. In fact, the only thing that stopped them falling asleep when enveloped in this luxury was the exciting thought of the impending arrival of their very own customised Viano coming soon. First stage customisation of the Signature Viano looks a far cry from this beautiful finished result at the moment, but there is no doubt when complete it will look every bit as fabulous as this model.
