The editor-in-chief, Chas Hallett, said that: “The Audi A3 Sportback mixes excellent refinement and an accomplished driving experience”. The Audi A3 Sportback is powered by innovation such as the Driver’s Information System (DIS) which is known to make the A3 more efficient to drive. Hallett also said of the A3: “It sets a new benchmark and it is keenly priced, a combination that makes it a worthy Car of the Year.”
As more car buyers in the UK look for value for money and space, it’s no surprise that cars like the Audi A3 Sportback are winning awards from prestigious names like What Car?.
It wasn’t only Audi that was part of the award celebrations. Ford is a company that continuously wins awards with critics and consumers. Chas Hallet said: “Ford really is building great cars. Its cars look good, are great to drive, reliable and make great buys.” This has definitely been seen through the awards that it has received from What Car?. The Fiesta took the crown in the supermini category. Another Ford model that was successful was the Mondeo which took an award as the best family car while the Mondeo Estate is the top estate car.
The luxury end of the market saw wins from German car maker BMW and Porsche. BMW’s Mini won an award for best open top car with the Mini Roadster Cooper S. Porsche scooped up a win for sports car of the year with the Porsche Boxster 2.7. It was also a good event for British car makers as Range Rover won the luxury car of the year award.
