Mercedes due to announce the AMG Sport range in this month

mercedes amg sportJanuary 2015 brings us the ever-popular Detroit Motor Show, which next week will play host to Mercedes-Benz’s demonstration of their new AMG Sport range.

While the current AMG range is going from strength to strength, Mercedes have identified a performance gap between their pure AMG cars and the results achieved by fitting a standard car with the AMG Sports package. The marque has therefore decided to introduce a new range that will compete with the BMW ‘M’ and Audi ‘S’ series.

The first two models in the AMG Sport range will be unveiled at Detroit next week, and are expected to the GLE Coupe and the C450 AMG Sport.

The cars will have modified engines, all-wheel drive and features cherry-picked from AMG vehicles, such as brake systems and special chassis components.

As Mercedes-AMG management board chairman Tobias Moers commented: “The new Sport models represent a convincing proposition for our customers: genuine sports car technology becomes accessible, appealing to an even broader-ranging clientele worldwide. For all our dynamic growth, we remain true to our brand claim of ‘Driving Performance”.

The prospect of a new Mercedes is always exciting, and that of an entire range even more so. We’re looking forward to seeing what emerges this January – the perfect thing to cheer us up after the festive season is over!
