One of Dee’s Classic Cars Goes Under the Hammer

With all the shiny supercars at Signature, you’d be forgiven for thinking we don’t have anything to do with classic cars. In fact, we love them, and not only does our CEO Dee
have a handsome private collection, but we also offer an expert storage service for classic cars.

DSC_0395If you need a classic car in your life, then why not check out the auction at Mercedes Benz World on 28th November? Dee has donated a beautiful Mercedes 220 SE to the auction, and you can view it on 26th and 27th November as well as place your bids the following day. We’ll be featuring more photographs in our blog next month, so please watch this space. Launched at Frankfurt in 1955, this stunning yellow Mercedes is a shining example of an interesting period in the marque’s history. A classic Grand Tourer, this car was exceptionally luxurious for its time and is still a very drivable car today, now made even more desirable by its rarity. If you already have a classic car, then we would be delighted to store it for you at Signature. It’s far more than storage, however, as our service also encompasses valeting, monitoring, and much more:

On arrival, the car is fully valeted and inspected to insure it has sufficient fluids. The tyres are then overinflated to reduce the effect of flat spotting, the batter is connected to an individual trickle charger and a condition / damage report is created. After this, we walk around the vehicle and ‘roll’ it every seven days to avoid brake stick. Every fortnight we also rotate the pressure points on the tyres to avoid flat spotting problems, and inspect the car’s drip tray for signs of fluid loss.

Moreover, every two months your car is cleaned inside and out, as well as run to operating temperature. This ensures the mechanical components of your car receive the gentle exercise that keeps them in top working condition. Electric features such as windows and air conditioning are also given the same treatment.

Jaguar & Mercedes 1One of the cars we have in storage at present is the classic Jaguar XK 120, which was Jaguar’s first post-war motor car and, at the time, the world’s fastest standard production vehicle with a top speed of 120 miles per hour. The iconic shape of the Jaguar XK120 roadster sustains the cars constant appreciation by classic car enthusiasts, and AEN 482, which we have in storage, is a wonderful example of the type. Having undergone a complete chassis off restoration in the early 1990s, the car is flawless and the perfect Sunday driver’s car. Furthermore, with its brown bodywork and complimenting duo tone tan and beige interior, this is a magnificent car to just look at – even if we can’t own it ourselves!
